In Emilia They Know How To Make ‘Frizzante’

You are thirsty. You crave wine. You uncork a bottle of Bi Fri. You are happy.

My review could end with the adjective ‘happy’, but I understand that I should give some more information.

This Bi Fri is a dry sparkling ‘frizzante’ wine produced by Podere Il Saliceto.

Podere Il Saliceto is located in the town of Campogalliano, in the province of Modena, Emilia Romagna region. People of the Emilia region are masters in the production of dry ‘frizzante’ wines. Podere Il Saliceto is a key reference of dry ‘frizzante’ wines in the Emilia region.

However, this wine is also an exception (a beautiful exception): it is not made from lambrusco grapes, like almost all the other sparkling wines from Emilia; it is made from trebbiano modenese and sauvignon blanc grapes.

The wine re-ferments in bottle. It tastes of thirst-quenching lemonade and lime juice, of white flowers and springtime meadow. Its bubbles are subtle and enjoyable. In a well-made ‘frizzante’, bubbles should always be like this. It makes you want to drink it lightheartedly. And, yes, it makes you feel happy.
